In Just 10 Days
Well Word Warriors, it’s been just ten days since Sooz and I launched this ambitious scheme, and I am so shocked and grateful for how successful it’s been–and we haven’t even started yet!
In just ten days we have
-Received 130 emails expressing interest to join or donate prizes
-Gathered over 50 ready-to-go Word Warriors
-Built a classroom initiative with inspiration and cooperation from Mrs. Kelly’s Mighty Pens
-Become the largest Team fundraising for Malala Fund (by far)
-Had over 50 choose to make their own fundraising pages
-Raised over $700 from just the participants.
You guys are selfless and awesome.
We’ve got little more than a week before NaNoWriMo, and therefore the Mighty Pens, begins! Be sure to check out Sooz’ fantastic plotting resources and official #TheMightyPens #MightySprints schedule. Because Sooz and I are both busy, we won’t necessarily be able to fill out the schedule far ahead of time, so be sure to check back and follow the hashtag. And, of course, y’all can always do your own unofficial sprints! Also, two fab teammates (Natalie Crown and Elizabeth Davis) pointed me to Write Track, another great way to organize your writing goals if, like me, you’re juggling as many tasks as the Queen of Hearts orders beheadings.
I will also be hosting a character-focused Twitter brainstorming sesh over the weekend (probably on the 28th). I want to choose a time that will be more friendly for our teammates around the world, so keep your eye on #TheMightyPens.
The campaign is still open to join! And we’re always looking for more prize donations to motivate participants to fundraise. If you’re a publishing industry guru–author, agent, editor–or if you know one, please consider donating to the cause! It will truly make a huge difference.
Friends, I am so, so excited. And now! Back to plotting.
