Another Writer Hits Silver Pen: Rachael Anne Edwards!
Check it out, team, we’ve got another rockstar to add to the Silver Pen roster! This time it’s Rachael Edwards of North West, England (which this American girl had to look up–is an actual Place, not just a direction omg); she’s actively destroying her NaNoWriMo goals with more than 15,000 words written already.
You can congratulate Rachael on twitter, Instagram, NaNo, or leave a comment on her Malala fundraising page. Read on to find out more about Rachael and her project.
And job VERY well done, Rachael!
What is your favorite book and/or author, and what draws you to them?
-
I will usually devour anything with in depth characters and emotional scenes. My favourite author for this is Sarah J Maas, and my favourite of all her books is Heir of Fire from her Throne of Glass series. I love how attached you get to her characters and how she can literally break your heart with a single sentence! Everything about her writing is so rich. Other author’s who’s writing does a similar thing for me are Susan Dennard and Kristen Ciccarelli.
Is this your first book? If not, what was the first book you ever finished writing? Tell us a little about it.
It isn’t! The first full book I ever finished writing as a YA fantasy about witches! I don’t want to say too much about it as I’m querying agents with it at the moment!
What’s the working title of your NaNoWriMo17 project?
Mark of the Kismet
Give us an elevator pitch of your project
An orphan storyteller must evade a brutal emperor who wants to enslave her when she is gifted with the ability to control fate itself (YA fantasy inspired by slavic/russian folklore)
Share your favorite line/short paragraph from your book so far.
And even if the children were spared, they would still see her being punished for following her heart. They would see what the Emperor did to those who dared to hope.
How did you hear about the Mighty Pens?
I saw Susan Dennard tweeting about it!
What inspired you to join the Mighty Pens?
I’ve taken part in NaNo for three years, and this year when I saw Susan tweet about the Mighty Pens I was really excited to align myself with other people who were writing first and foremost because they love it! The fact that we’re raising money for an amazing cause at the same time? Epic bonus!
Fantastic job again, Rachael! Hope to see you hitting Gold soon 😀
