Our Newest Silver Pen: Hanna Westerlund!
Guys, another one of our awesome word warriors has done it: Hanna Westerlund has officially written >15,000 words! Congratulations, lady! Read on to learn more about her journey and her NaNoWriMo project, and feel free to congratulate her as well on twitter or NaNo!
What is your favorite book and/or author, and what draws you to them?
This is a really hard question because there are so many great books and authors out there and I feel like they all deserve praise for the work they do, but my favorite books I’ve read this year so far are Crooked Kingdom (Leigh Bardugo), Morning Star (Pierce Brown) and Aniara (Harry Martinson). I’m usually drawn to books with complex worlds, great friendship and some element that is different from my own life because reading is such an amazing escape from everyday life and I love to lose myself in the stories.
Is this your first book?
This is my first actual book but I’ve written a lot of random short stories and poems before.
What’s the working title of your NaNoWriMo17 project?
Fången i underjorden (something along the lines of: The Prisoner of the Underground)
Give us an elevator pitch of your project.

“Jag måste ha ett alibi och helst färre vittnen än jag nu hade vilket var fyra. En otrevligt hög siffra med tanke på vad konsekvenserna skulle bli om någon av dem läckte ut information om var jag hållit hus eller vad jag gjort under de senaste fem timmarna. Jag hade helt enkelt gillrat en fälla åt mig själv. Så angenämt.”
Translation: “I badly needed an alibi and preferably fewer witnesses than I currently had, which for the record was four. An unpleasantly high number considering what the consequences would be if any of them decided to leak the information about my whereabouts or what I had been up to for the last five hours. I had simply set a trap for myself. How wonderful.”
How did you hear about the Mighty Pens?
From twitter.
What inspired you to join the Mighty Pens?
I have started writing this story so many times but always chickened out because I’ve thought that I wouldn’t be able to execute it. Instead I have planned and planned and planned fearing to destroy it if I would ever dare to actually write it. When I heard about The Mighty Pens I was so excited because girls’ education is a cause I’m really passionate about and I’m happy to donate what I can, but I also knew that it was an opportunity to actually start and try to write for real. I might still destroy the story, who knows, but at least I’ll have tried and got some writing experience out of it. 😀
Well, Sooz and I are so glad you decided to become part of the team! Congratulations again, and keep knocking out those word count goals. Great job!
