Another Incredible Silver Pen: CL Mannarino!!
Guys, another one of our awesome word warriors has has officially written >15,000 words! Congratulations, CL Mannarino!
Feel free to congratulate her as well on her website, Twitter, Tumblr, NaNoWriMo, or her Malala Fund fundraising page! We’re sure she’d love to hear from you!
Or read on, to learn more about CL and her project!
What is your favorite book and/or author, and what draws you to them?
My favorite book is Ella Enchanted. It was the first book with a decidedly strong female character, one who didn’t have aspirations to be a princess, that I’d read growing up. She took charge of her situations, and found her way in the world through learning about the people she was with, in order to understand how to live among them. I still love it, and the magic in that story.
Is this your first book? If not, what was the first book you ever finished writing? Tell us a little about it.
This is actually my fourth! My first book also happens to be the first book in the series I’m finishing right now. It’s called What We’ll Do for Blood, it’s book one in my Almost Human series, and it’s about an underrated high schooler who has to save his father from being killed by a woman who isn’t quite what she seems to be, and is far more dangerous than she looks.
What’s the working title of your NaNoWriMo17 project?
It’s called The Almost Human Series: Book 3 (not very original, haha)!
Give us an elevator pitch of your project.
Share your favorite line/short paragraph from your book so far.
How did you hear about the Mighty Pens?
I’m an enormous fan of Susan Dennard, and as soon as she announced that she was not only participating in NaNo this year (!!!!!), but that she was co-hosting a sponsorship event designed to raise money for girls’ education, I jumped at the chance.
(Aw, thank you, CL!! -Sooz)
What inspired you to join the Mighty Pens?
I love raising money for good causes, and I love love LOVE being part of something bigger than myself, something where you can accomplish something you set out to do, and cheer on the people around you.
Congrats again, CL!! Keep up on writing like the inspiration you are!!
