Still Wanted: Mentors and Donors
We’re still dusting off the website, getting the fundraising platform ready, and sorting out prize donations (see below!!), but bros, I am so, SO hype for the Mighty Pens, 2018! Little over a month left.
What an amazing response to the request for volunteers. I’m straight touched by everyone’s passion and enthusiasm for this little fundraiser. (Some of the emails actually made me teary-eyed. I’m so grateful that Sooz and I have had the chance to be a part of your lives in such a positive way.)
With the wonderful deluge of offers, we are good-to-go for Sprinters and Admin Wizards. We’ll be contacting those folks in the next couple days. However, we can definitely use more mentors–and also PRIZE DONORS!
Mighty Pens Mentor
- What: Motivated folks who participated last year, willing to at least answer questions about the Mighty Pens for new participants and give them pointers on fundraising, but also maybe even encouraging them past writer’s block, swapping recipes, screaming about awesome books–the sky’s the limit.
- How: When new participants sign up and donate their initial $10, they will be matched with a mentor — up to five new participants per mentor. You can work together how you want: via email, twitter, discord, messenger pigeon…. Just be there to answer their questions and help them out because, well, sometimes things are confusing.
- Sign me up!: You participated last year? Sweet! Send an email to themightypens2017 @ gmail.com. Make sure you include an email that you check often.
We’ll stop accepting additional mentors on October 15, just for organizational purposes. Until then, send us your emails! Join the awesomeness that is Team Mighty Pens!!
Prize Donors
Much of what makes The Mighty Pens so fun for participants is the awesome fundraising, writing, and even random prizes folks can get when they join. If you’re part of the industry, please help! We’ll accept prize donations anytime from now until November 29th.
Prizes can be critiques (queries, one page, five pages, whatever you’re comfortable with!), sensitivity reads, custom artwork, gift cards, names of future characters, skype chats, signed books, ARCs, bookmarks, book swag, handwritten letters of encouragement, cut scenes or worldbuilding insights, and more. We are open to creative prize ideas. Prizes of all shapes and sizes encourage greater fundraising and more words on the page.

As always fam, thank you <3
