Join the Mighty Pens, 2018!

It’s happening!!!

We’ve hammered up some walls, added a fresh coat of paint, and got a team of awesome folks behind us for the Mighty Pens, 2018, NaNoWriMo edition. And we would love to have you join us. Join as a participant, as a classroom, or we’re always (seriously, always) looking for more fundraising prizes.

November is just around the corner! If you’re new to the Mighty Pens, or if you need a refresher, check out what we’re about and how the fundraiser works. This year, we’re hoping to raise $15,000 for the 501(c)(3) non-profit, National Novel Writing Month itself. NaNoWriMo has been a crucial tool to help authors find their voices for nearly two decades, and they’re also the entire reason that the Mighty Pens even existed as my brainchild. Even more impressive, they support educators and students through the Young Writer’s Program. We’re really excited to have them as partners this year.

Also in the meantime, you can check out the awesome writing prizes we’ll be offering participants, as well as the final raffle for all participants (regardless of how much you raise or write!)

We’re still busy working on the fundraising prize system for this year, to make it smoother and easier for everyone involved. Again, we could really use more prizes. If you’re an industry expert, author, agent, or editor, please consider donating to the cause! If you don’t feel like you can donate much, that’s fine! Smaller prizes are incredibly wonderful because they support more people on their fundraising journey–one page critiques, fun stickers or book swag, a cut scene from a previous book, etc., and of course more traditional prizes like books or longer critiques or skype chats are always welcome!

• 15pg MG or YA critique from agent Lindsay Davis Auld
• Signed Six of Crows Collectors Edition + 2 character cards (winner’s choice) from Leigh Bardugo
• 30pg critique from Rae Carson
• Signed copy of The Disappearance of Sloane Sullivan + a custom book candle from Gia Cribbs
• A character named after you in an upcoming manuscript by Jodi Meadows
• ARC of Deceivers by Kristen Simmons
• Query, five-page critique, and 15-minute industry chat with agent Joanna Volpe
