The Shadow Phoenix
Through the birth of a shadow phoenix, the world has become dead and dark; only four young souls, together, have the power to stop it.
Excerpt
She stepped back, allowing them through the narrow opening. A small pond in the center shone with white light, and fish and bubbles floated everywhere in the clearing, heavily condensed between the small circle of trees. Despite the opening of the trunks, somehow the canopy extended over the clearing, fading to a deep blue with water reflections over their heads. The grass swayed in the current. As Aranil approached the pool, she saw that inside was a large glowing white orb. It seemed to orbit slowly, and small multicolored flecks of light speckled around it.
“So you’ve come with some concerns, and of course the beings in question.”
Brandar stepped forward. “Your Lightness, we have come to find out about the possible future. We believe it to be necessary.”
“Why?”
“A famine has been ravaging the human world. We believe it to be… Him.”
