Eight of Swords
Excerpt
Autumn moved through the crowd. Thankfully, not all of the conversations were about her and Sol. She picked up other small tidbits. Charlotte Desmond was showing an affinity toward plants and growing. Another green thumb for the Desmond family. Harlow Frederick had been accepted into the Potions Apprentice Program. Young mediums were using mobile phones to text with the dead! How Scandalous! Did they have no respect for the old ways?
And on and on the conversations went. Autumn drifted and Autumn walked until she came to the back wall of the room and the large tapestry that hung from floor to ceiling. It was massive and ancient and Autumn always found herself back here. Staring at it. The tapestry depicted a large world tree. The branches spreading large and wide, green leaves filling the canopy with life and light. Going down, the tapestry wove from light colours to dark as the branches slowly turned to trunk, to leaf litter, to roots twisting at wicked, gnarled angles seeking and searching in the soil for the substance at the very bottom of the image. Blood. A thick weaving of dark, red blood.
Way to be, Amanda! So glad to have you on the team.
