Excerpt
OPEN YOUR EYES, DAMMIT! The voice in Mira’s head jolted her out of her thoughts, just in time to turn a few corners to get the guardsmen off her tail. Eventually, she hid behind the shadow of an empty stall in the marketplace, the early morning daylight threatening her hiding spot. As she crouched out of sight of any passersby, Mira tried to catch her breath and assess the situation.
She was in such deep shit.
Twelve against one would be difficult but not impossible to overcome. Maybe she was overestimating her fighting skills, but surely she could get past them all. Finally, all those years of training and fighting lessons in the Royal Guard will be put to use; she never thought she’d use them against her former comrades-in-arms. How could she push away the fondness for her fellow members of the guard and save her own skin?
Fantastic job, Sam! Next stop: Gold Pen!
