Between the Sun and the Moon
Originally on opposite sides of a war, powerful magic users Edan and Kazmera fall in love while they fight for revenge and justice despite their arranged marriage.
Kazmera’s waking nightmare descended into a deeper level of unyielding horror, when the swirling, shadowed mists parted to reveal a man. Her eyes had not deceived her after all. The shadowed man held his hand out toward her fallen parents, both accusing and condemning them.
He turned to her, and she screamed anew. In the bare glimpse Kazmera caught of his eyes, they were black and full of death. Her own eyes could no longer focus, and her entire body trembled.
He stretched his hand out once more, to Kazmera, but rather than striking her down, he gestured for her to take it. It was an offer–or a threat. When she did not move, the guard forced her forward.
As she was swept away to a far-away land, back into the Realms, dust covering her family’s home behind her, blood stretching out from under the tent sides, Kazmera thought she heard the winds whispering.
Remember who you are, Kazmera. Remember your parents, and honor their sacrifice.
Kazmera started to cry, and did not cease sobbing all night, even when ensconced in a palace of white marble. Her room featured a window through which the moonlight entered, providing her both light and a beautiful view of the white marble palace complex, but Kazmera did not notice.
Oh man, that’s some heavy stuff, Sasha. But I’m intrigued! Love the vibes and the fun tropes (I’m a sucker for hate to love and arranged marriages! Whew!).
