MIGHTY PEN: Kim Merrill (Inopinion)

Wow wow wow! We had a second MIGHTY PEN in the second week of November, not long after fellow volunteer Wildfaeriecaps. That’s 50,000 words in ten days! I can smell the smoke from her keyboard all the way over here.

What made you want to join the Mighty Pens this year?

To stay motivated. To pour out some encouragement for others. To connect during all this s***.

What was a frustrating part of NaNo/the Mighty Pens this year? What was rewarding?

Well, I loved finding my sprinting routine with so many special writers. Hanna in the morning, Wildfaeriecaps later in the day, Lizzy and Sam—really all the PENS. But I have to say racing with Wildfaeriecaps felt pretty special for me!

What’s currently your favorite part of your NaNo project? 

I really love the dynamic I discovered between my two mains. It turned out a lot softer then I expected and it feels just right.

What advice would you give yourself for NaNoWriMo/the Mighty Pens 2021?

Fix it in the re-write, and stock up on that coffee!
