MIGHTY PEN: Breanna Broad
Huge shoutout to Breanna for her first-time NaNoWriMo win! She’s been a volunteer rockstar here at Mighty Pens HQ with all of her awesome sprints (there’s still a few left if you need some inspiration to read the end). We’re so excited to celebrate with her this year!
You can be buddies with Breanna on NaNoWriMo and follow her on Twitter.
Keep reading to hear more about her NaNoWriMo journey. Maybe there will even be a few winning tips! If you’re into the whole WRITING 14K WORDS IN ONE DAY kind of thing…
What made you want to join the Mighty Pens this year?
To become more involved with the writing community as I didn’t participate as much as I should have back in 2017.
What was a frustrating part of NaNo/the Mighty Pens this year? What was rewarding?
Having to push everything to the side to finish. I stayed up to get my word count in because I was starting to have some anxiety by not exercising, studying Japanese, or cleaning as I normally would. The most rewarding was to see I could write 14k words in a night and actually reach toward the end of the middle in a book. I have not gotten that far since I was maybe 14 or 15. I’ve started a lot of projects and never finished. The project seems to be weaving itself smoothly considering it is a vomit draft.
What’s currently your favorite part of your NaNo project?
“Venile recognized it but felt too weak to say who it was. She barely felt anything when Feran had taken off her clothes. Shouldn’t she had felt something tingle in her skin. Did that mean she was incapable of feeling sexually aroused? Was that the real reason no one like her? Not because she smelled but because of her indifference to sexual things. Oh wow, she was weird.
Hiccup.”
What advice would you give yourself for NaNoWriMo/the Mighty Pens 2021?
Try to find balance. Make a goal you know you can achieve without giving up your adulting too.

YAY! Congratulations, Breanna! Now it’s time to take a well-deserved break!
