Motivational Monday: It’s Time to Get Ready
National Novel Writing Month 2021 starts exactly one week from today. Writers around the world are nervous and excited, and ready to stretch their brains and fingers for the full month. As Megan pointed out in her Preptober Gameplan post, now is a great time to begin planning breaks, word count goals, and holiday travel plans ahead of time.
If these thoughts are beginning to fill you with dread rather than excitement, don’t panic! It’s normal to feel anxious. NaNoWriMo is such a large undertaking. No matter how you’re feeling, the Mighty Pens are here to support you and help you achieve your goals, whether that’s the full 50K for NaNo or simply just giving it a try for the first time and seeing how far you get.
If you love planning and resources, the Mighty Pens are here for you! Many of us use Canva, which is free, for mood boards and graphics, and have tons of writing-related resources such as craft books and software to recommend.
The more we write, the more we raise for WeForest, but that doesn’t mean you should set unrealistic goals and expectations. Just trying your best is what matters. If 1000 words per day is a more realistic goal for you, write those words with pride! If you know you’ll be traveling and won’t be able to get words down around your family for the holidays, taking that break to spend time with loved ones is far more important.
It’s never too late to try something new, and with that spirit, we’re cheering you on and hoping you’ll join us for NaNo 2021. For those who are returning NaNo participants, we hope that this year will bring fresh excitement along with the challenge!
